What is the use of the abstract class Zend_Db_Table?

It's empty. I always use Zend_Db_Table_Abstract.

The chapter Zend_Db_Table in the Framework Reference Guide only uses the Zend_Db_Table_Abstract too..

But it must be there for a good reason

I hope that someone can explane it to me.
