Default Zend Filter or Zend Validate

Hello,

I am trying to add methods for checking some data if it fits proper format.

I am wondering what should i use:
Zend_Filter

or

Zend_Validate.

Both are doing lot of common things...

Zend_Validate

"Both are doing lot of common things..."
Zend_Validate spawned from Zend_Filter because the idea was that filter should only return filtered data and validate should only validate the data
