Default License Question

I am a newbie to the open source community, but I am currently thinking about using ZF for a work related project that might spawn into something open source in the future and was wondering how the third clause of Zend's BSD license might affect me.

"Neither the name of Zend Technologies USA, Inc. nor the names of its contributors may be used to endorse or promote products derived from this software without specific prior written permission."

As this states I cannot make use of the Zend name in order to endorse or promote my product, however does that also encompass the "Zend Framework"? Can I not say that the product makes use of the Zend Framework, or at the very least in the documentation state that?

Thanks in advance,

Andrew

Hi,

while they provide a ZF powered logo, i think, it's OK to tell people, that your product is ZF powered and so on.

It simply means you cannot claim that the Zend company wrote or endorses your code.

e.g: you can (and should!) say, "This project uses the awesome Zend Framework" but you can't say, "This project has the backing/endorsement of the Zend company".
