I'm a complete newbie just trying to get my feet wet. I downloaded the "stable release" (at this point 1.0.4) and was trying to follow the Programmer's Reference manual to create a form using the Zend_Form class. Problem was that my IDE couldn't find that class nor could a directory wide search. Beat my head against the wall reading tutorials, searching forums for a while when it occurred to me, maybe there's no form class until 1.0.5. Which appears to be the case.
So, just a suggestion, could the Programmer's Reference Manual please state prominently what version it is written against. I mean right in the header for each page so dummies like me would be prone to see it. Thanks in advance. |

I think the docs are against the 1.5 RC3 branch, if you're going to the ones hosted on their site. I think in the download section, you can download the correct branches.
I've been using 1.5 to develop a new app, and so far, I recommend it highly. We're hoping that 1.5 will be stable by the time we are ready to launch.

Yes, you are correct, I put the wrong version in my previous note. My point stands however, it would be helpful if the documentation stated prominently what version if was written against. It may be there somewhere but I sure don't see it.

Yeah, basically on the download page 1.5 is the only version that has a "view documentation" link near it, and it links to the main documentation. Your confusion is understandable, and to my knowledge, Zend_Form is not implemented in the earlier version you're using.

Zend form is not implemented in the earlier versions. I've resolved that problem by downloading the 1.5 version so that's fine. I just wanted to make a suggestion that might save other newbies a few hours of confusion. The learning curve is steep enough as it is.
