ApAdrian,

There arent any files yet we are trying to define ideias and build a solid base so then every one can design components and modules that will fit together in this base.

The coding work didnt start yet.

hey all.

sry I've been away for a while. Anyway I am still upto doing this project. I have done some work and brewed few ideas, but still lot needs to be done.

The way I envision it is something like a "virtual os" of sorts. where each module could be an independent "program" within this system. Say articles system would be like "microsoft word" and so forth and so on.

The idea is to have some sort of virtual file system going on where each "file" or node would represent one page on the public side. You can draw it out as a tree. And would be the base for the site structure. Each of the programs could save "nodes" or files into any position in that tree. (nice things could be like shortcuts and stuff ...)

Each node would have some security related stuff (who can see it, who can modify, ...), meta data, template to use on public side, maybe a log of changes...

All this would be provided by the core system and "modules" or applications would extend the functionality - would use the core api's. Someting like winapi - or any other for that matter.

This system would be very easy to extend and very easy to integrate (although the core would be rather complex)

I've done system similar to this - although on much smaller scale for the company I work for. The first site we launched is ( Home )

As for UI side of things Ext library is perfect : Ext JS - JavaScript Library

Although I don't have time to deal with this until next year. But we could set up a wiki or something to collect ideas and set the goals. For people who are interested in participating.

Me too a newbie in ZF but have little knowledge about Joomla. So far my findings about the frameworks is that there are two types of frameworks. One with the core libraries like Zend Framework and the other with the structure like Ruby. I want to know that can we first concentrate on the structure so that structure can help us in kick starting other applications as well.

Default code / concepts to contribe

Hi All,

As part of setting up a development framework for a university for the better part of last year, I've also been developing a cms. The powers that be are supportive of the cms component going open source. That means we have a bunch of code and concepts to contribute. Also, we can provide a solid foundation to the project. That is, we would be committed to the development of an open source cms based on Zend Framework. We already have allocated resources (such as a designated development server) a community of interested developers and an even larger community of tests - departmental webmasters.

Just to be clear, I'm not saying that you should all develop the cms that we have started. What I am saying is that we have code, concepts and resources to contribute to the cms project and (if desired) can offer support in managing the project. The advantage in doing this is that the project would not orbit around an individual/s. It would consequently be more attractive to developers who are cautious of wasting valuable time contributing to a deadend project.

I would like to build a relationship with the Zend company and develop an official Zend Framework CMS (e.g. ZFCMS - hang on just have to google that … ha! Zeev Suraski from Zend Technologies Ltd has registered zfcms.com. The ground is fertile!). It would be nice to hand project management over to them. Until then, the more core ZF developers we can get on board the better chance we have of developing a cms that will work WITH ZF and not against it and the better chance we have of Zend Technologies running with it.

It sounlds like a lot of us have developed cms's. Can anyone who is willing set up a dummy site? Post the link here with instructions and a description of key features.

Cheers,
Jess

rule3
as you can see the project is not dead, frosty1 it's working on it right now!
digitalus already uses jquery.

I want to thank frosty1 for his great work. I've already build a small cms for my site, but digitalus is far better than mine (as I can see). Maybe I'll switch to it in the feature.

p.s.
I suggest to use an already done forum for the community behind dsm instead. You can build a bridge for the third-party forum (like phpbb or vbulletin). I think it's a far better idea than coding a new one. Also publishing the cms as fully integrable with a vb forum will push the adoption of dsm.
